Historic Niswonger Home Began as a Hall
C. P. Niswonger moved to Central Oregon in 1907, and started Niswonger-Reynolds Funeral Home in 1911. Read the full article published in The Bulletin on August 31, 1990.

Niswonger-Reynolds was sold to a New Orleans company during a time when large national chains had been buying up small, family-run funeral homes throughout the country.

In 2004, Jerome and Dawna Daniel published the announcement of their purchase of Niswonger-Reynolds Funeral Home - once again making Niswonger-Reynolds a family-owned funeral home, which remains a matter of great importance today.

Kevin Korn
Licensed Funeral Director/Embalmer
Kevin returned to Central Oregon with Niswonger-Reynolds as a Funeral Director/Embalmer/Manager in August of 2011. A native Oregonian, Kevin began his apprenticeship in Salem, Oregon and then attended the Mortuary Science Program at Mt. Hood Community College in Gresham completing an Associate of Science Degree. Kevin has served as a funeral director in the communities of Roseburg, Bandon, Eugene and Cottage Grove.
Within the funeral profession, he has served on the Oregon Funeral Directors Association as a board member and president. In 2004, Kevin was appointed by the Governor to serve on the Oregon Mortuary & Cemetery Board, serving as president of that organization in 2011 & 2012. Away from work, he enjoys most anything outdoors including kayaking, camping, skiing, fishing, hunting, and spending time with family. Many of these interests he shares with his wife, Tammie.
Kevin notes, "In the funeral profession, it is an honor to serve the families we do at one of the hardest times in their lives.” Over the years, several long lasting friendships have evolved from that service.

Madison Ostergren

Maddy came to the Bend Funeral Homes as a Funeral Director/Embalmer in May of 2022. She was born in Wisconsin and raised in the Twin Cities of Minnesota where she graduated from the University of Minnesota with a bachelor’s degree in Mortuary Science in 2018. There she started her career in the funeral service industry at various funeral homes around Saint Paul, MN.
Outside of work, Maddy enjoys international travel, spending time outdoors, exploring and getting to know the Deschutes County area, and trying out new local restaurants. She brought her cat, Moco, with her from Minnesota and plans to get a puppy in the future.

Nena Close
Administrative Assistant
Born in Bend, OR back in the days when it was a quiet little mill town, and everybody knew everybody. I am married and raised 3 daughters in Bend.
In my late 20’s, I embarked on a 40-year career in advertising sales at the local newspaper. Retired in 2017 from the newspaper and did some RVing with my hubby, got to visit a lot with grandsons, and took a trip to Mazatlan. Two years later I received a call from Kevin Korn asking if I would be interested in a part-time Admin position that was open and I said, YES. Turned out to be full time but it was meant to be. I feel blessed to be able to work at Niswonger-Reynolds. It feels like “home” as a lot of the families we help come from old Bend families, too.
In my spare time, I enjoy genealogy research, time with family, and home improvement projects with husband, Ron. We are both involved in leadership in our church, where I hold the position of Historian for the church and the community of Tumalo.
