Richard Kress Wickman

Sisters, Oregon Richard Kress Wickman, 78, of Sisters, Oregon, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 2, 2016 at home with friends and family. Richard was born in Bellingham, WA on September 30, 1938. He graduated from Klickitat High School and continued on to Portland, OR to attend business classes which lead him to his lifelong career as a lumber broker. Richard is lovingly remembered by his wife Maria Garcia of Sisters, and by his brothers Mike of Lakeview, and Robert of Klickitat, WA. Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Marilyn Wickman. Richard or "Wick" to many of his friends, was a thoughtful and considerate man with a passion to share with others what he so enjoyed in life. His smile and genuine interest in others made his presence infectious and a joy to be a part of. Wick spent most of his life in the Pacific Northwest. He favored the outdoors, hunting, fishing, surveying the landscape, and just looking at trees, and that fondness for the open-air guided him around the world. Wick has sailed down the Columbia, he was the captain of a Dory boat, spent many a season at a hunting lodge in eastern Oregon, went salmon fishing in Alaska, explored beaches on the Christmas Islands, tasted wine from vineyards in Italy, then eventually traveling to the hills of Oaxaca, Mexico. Richard is survived by his three daughters, Coral Rose of Union, Karrie Wickman of Springfield, and Misty Wickman of Eugene, his six grandchildren Dustin Rose, Christopher Zobrist, Addie Lass, Brandy Anderson, Jeffrey Atkinson, Ivy Lass and four great-grandchildren Baily, Garret, William, and Benjamin. He is also survived by stepson Brett Hudson of Sisters and his two grandchildren Hayden and Haylie. Wick did not wish to have a service but rather be cremated and for his family to visit several of his favorite locations to share one last time with us his enjoyment of life and all its beautiful wonders. We will visit the Strawberry Mountains where he loved to fish and hunt, Pacific City where he pushed over the surf in his Dory, and once again to a beautiful beach in Oaxaca where he spent clear days in the warm water.
