Michelle Alice Goulet

Michelle Alice Goulet (Pepin), proud resident of Sunriver, Oregon, passed away surrounded by love on January 5, 2024 at the age of 84 years old. Michelle was born on December 31, 1939 in Montréal, Québec, Canada to her beloved mother, Josephine, and father, Henri Pepin. By the time she was 24 years old, Michelle and her children, parents, and siblings all moved to sunny California in search of warm weather and palm trees. Michelle enjoyed living in Pismo Beach, Lake Tahoe, and the Monterey Bay areas of California for many years, spending her free time away from her sales career camping, skiing, hiking, and adventuring with her family at every opportunity. A voracious reader and lifelong learner, Michelle earned her college degree from Monterey Peninsula College at the age of 55. At the age of 58, Michelle became a certified Open Water Scuba Diver and adventured to far-flung destinations with her daughter Christine, granddaughter, and good friends at Salem Scuba. Retiring to Sunriver was a dream come true for Michelle, and she loved calling it home with her son Alain and their kitties. Michelle filled her social calendar straight away, making many beautiful friendships over Bingo, Bunco, Mahjong, Bridge, Rummy, or pretty much any card game (seemingly, most of which she won). Always artistic, Michelle became a prolific oil painter of especially forest and underwater landscapes. Michelle, ever the explorer, joined many active social groups like Girls on the Fly, Vintage Women, and Camptown Girls and filled just about every moment Spring through Fall with camping, kayaking, swimming, and potlucking with the girls. When the beautiful snow piled up and she was ready for warmth in Winter, she loved venturing to Costa Rica with her son Luc to snorkel and watch him surf. After decades of service as the best grandma, Michelle was promoted to great-grandma (Gigi) twice with the births of her great-grandchildren. Michelle will be remembered for all of the love and laughter she shared with her family and friends, and her life celebrated for her fun-loving spirit, boundless energy, and zeal for daily adventures. As she emblazoned on her cherished Chalet camper, “Laissez les bons temps rouler!”- Let the good times roll! Michelle is survived by her daughter Christine Santos, sons Luc Goulet and Alain Goulet, granddaughter Jacqueline (Anthony) Evans, grandson Chase Goulet, two great-grandchildren, and her sister Nicole (Stan) Hilton. She is preceded in death by her granddaughter Camay Goulet, her parents Josephine and Henri Pepin, and her brother Henri (Ginette) Pepin, Jr. Michelle’s family wishes to express their immense gratitude for all those who have shared their friendship and joined Michelle on one of her many adventures.
