John Richard Robertson

John Richard "Johnny" Robertson of Bend, Oregon, passed away due to complications after surgery on September 20, 2018. He was 90. A Graveside Service with full military honors will be held Saturday, October 13th, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Greenwood Cemetery, located at 12th and Hawthorne in Bend, OR. A Celebration of Life & Reception will follow at 2:30 PM at Broken Top Clubhouse, located at 62000 Broken Top Drive, Bend, OR. All are welcome to attend both services. John was born May 2, 1928 in Bend, Oregon, to Louis Allen Robertson and Irma Ruth (Blair) Ellis. He graduated from Bend Senior High School in 1945 and began his career dedicating over 40 years of service as a petroleum distributor across Oregon. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard and retired at the rank of Captain after 21 years of service. John married Donna J. Slate on July 29, 1950 and they resided in Bend where they raised their four children. Those young, busy years were filled with camping, hunting, fishing, flying planes, and many family gatherings. In his later years, John enjoyed gardening, cooking, attending his great-grandchildrens sporting and school events, visits with family and working on many home projects. John is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Donna Robertson of Bend, OR; their four children, Sharon D. Henderson of Bend, OR, John A. Robertson of Mt. Shasta, CA, David L. Robertson of Sheridan, TX, and Teresa J. Robertson of Hillsboro, OR, as well as their respective spouses. Other survivors include five grandchildren, Hollie Sheerer, Kayla Robertson, Trish Orgis, Nicole Robertson, Shannon Wing and their respective spouses; four great-grandchildren, Greyson & Gatlin Sheerer, Bryce & Blake Orgis and a brother, Rodney Robertson of Pueblo, CO.
