Jean Bettencourt

Redmond, Oregon Jean passed away quietly at her home at Brookdale Senior Living Center in Redmond, OR. Jean had been bed ridden for over six months with her health on a steady decline. On her passing she was preceded in death by her husband Charles Bettencourt of 63 years, her parents Otis and Mildred Butler and granddaughter Kimmie Nicoletto. Jean had two children and their spouses; Doug and Sue Bettencourt of Terrebonne, OR and Vickie and Terry Nicoletto of Ventura, CA, 5 grandchildren; Carrie Husband, Nikki Nicoletto Christie, Brian Bettencourt, Tammie Coulter and Cassie Stonefeld. She also is survived with 9 wonderful great grandchildren. Jean was born as Baby Butler in Nyland, CA. And, then given the name of Jean where was she raised and lived in Brawley, CA. Her family moved to Ventura, CA in her teens where she graduated from Ventura High School and then attended Ventura College. She met her husband, Charles; and, after he finished his tour in the Army Air Force they were married on June 25, 1949. They raised Doug and Vicki in Oxnard, CA where Jean worked as a school bus driver for the. Oxnard School District. She took that job so she could be home with the kids when they were out of school and be a good mother to her children. Trips to the lakes in the summer were a common thing where the family water skied, relaxed and played in the water. The whole family also enjoyed motorcycle riding in the mountains and the deserts. Jean continued to drive school buses until she retired. On a vacation trip Jean and Charles fell in love with Bend, OR where they and their boxer dogs relocated and retired in 1978. With their retirement they had a part time business with their son which gave them something to do. They also enjoyed their motor home travels in the western part of our nation and would spend some extended trips to Arizona in the winter. The Hospice Nurses were so kind and helpful to Jean and family this last month and a special thanks to them. At Jeans request, no services will be held.
