April Ann Hogan

April Ann Hogan was born on June 7th, 1945, in San Bernardino, CA, to John and Roberta Hutchinson. She was the first of four daughters. April grew up in Creswell, Oregon, where she graduated high school. After high school, April attended college at Southern Oregon College, followed by the University of Oregon, where she met her first husband, David Schildmeyer. Soon after marrying David, April became a military wife when David joined the United States Air Force as an officer. April and David had a daughter, Kristin, and a son, John. Air Force commitments had April and her husband move to Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan; San Antonio, Texas; Phoenix, Arizona; and finally, Colorado Springs, Colorado. April and David later divorced, which brought April back to Eugene, Oregon, to raise her two children. Soon after arriving in Eugene, April was hired by the Springfield Police Department as a police dispatcher. While working for the Springfield Police, April met her second husband, Glenn Hogan, who was a deputy for the Lane County Sheriff’s Office. April and Glenn were married in 1978 and moved to Junction City, Oregon, where they had a daughter, Beth Hogan. They later divorced. Soon after marrying Glenn, April was hired by the Eugene Police Department as a dispatcher, where she spent the majority of her career. She worked for the department during the implementation of the 911 call system until her retirement as a supervisor in late 2007. During her tenure at the Eugene police department, April helped thousands of people in distress and kept police officers and firefighters safe from harm because of her dedication and professionalism. April’s colleagues were more than coworkers; they were her friends and even “extended family” while she was working. April remained in Junction City, where she enjoyed her beautiful home, which was “home base” for her children, seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. She loved cooking for her family, decorating her home, and maintaining her beautiful yard. April also enjoyed traveling and history. April passed away peacefully surrounded by her children and two grandchildren on June 29th, 2025, in Bend, Oregon. April was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Chrissy, and grandson, Schyler. April is survived by her sisters, Eileen and Molly, her daughters, Kristin and Beth, her son, John, and her remaining ten grandchildren. Services will be held at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Eugene, at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 1st. Reception to follow. Family burial services at Lane Memorial Gardens.
