William "Russ" Grady

Russ died March 17, 2025, at St. Charles Hospital, Bend, Oregon. Russ found peace through the grace of God in Jesus Christ and grace has taken him to his eternal home. William Russell Grady was born to Edward and Betty (Osborn) Grady on October 11,1947 in Port Townsend, Washington. In addition to his parents, his family included two older brothers, Bruce and Jim, and Grandmother Verna Osborn. His early years were spent in Port Townsend where he started school. In 1957 the family moved to St. Helens, Oregon. Russ got an early start in sports playing Little League baseball, then added basketball, football and bowling. He was a very good musician, participating in regular school band, as well as symphony and jazz bands. He formed the Road Runners band that played at local dance venues. After high school graduation, Russ attended Whitworth College in Spokane, Washington. On June 17, 1967, he married his high school sweetheart, Janice Harrison, at Plymouth Presbyterian Church in St. Helens. They established their first home and welcomed daughter Margaret while living in San Diego, California. He earned his Bachelor’s degree from San Diego State University and began Master’s coursework. Russ acquired his real estate broker license and began his real estate career. The family moved to Bend in 1979 where Russ continued his real estate career. Russ valued family. Almost every holiday and special occasion were spent with extended family, often at his parents home in St. Helens. He had a tremendous sense of humor and an infectious smile. He excelled in a wide range of endeavors, succeeding in practically everything he set his mind to. Russ is survived by his brother Jim, wife Janice, daughter Margaret (Kevin) Collier, grandchildren Casey and Kyla and numerous nieces and nephews. Viewing will be 2:30 - 4:30 p.m., April 1st, at Niswonger-Reynolds Funeral Home, 105 NW Irving Ave., Bend, OR. A graveside service will be held at Pilot Butte Cemetery, April 2nd at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to the organization of your choice.
