Matthew Troy Wright (SFC Wright) Matthew was born on September 12, 1986 in Hayward, CA. To Valerie Correia (Barker) (Lake Havasu City, AZ) and Robert Wright SR (La Pine, OR). He was called to his final resting place on May 15, 2022 at Bend St. Charles Medical Center, Bend OR with his wife and family by his side. Matthew relocated to Central Oregon at a young age. He had two brothers Robert Wright JR (La Pine, OR) and Chazz Wright (Hayward, CA). His brothers were two of his best friends and not only did they enjoy attending metal shows together they enjoyed playing and making music as well. Matthew was one of the best self taught musicians. He played the guitar unbelievably well and recently was learning how to play the drums and mix his own songs and music. He even started a one man band named Spiderpuncher. At the age of 19 Matthew enlisted in the United States Army out of Oregon as a 92G (food service specialist) to serve his country and follow in the footsteps of his late beloved grandfather Troy (Papa). He attended basic training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina and attended AIT (advanced individual training) at Fort Lee, Virginia. After training he was stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Shortly after his arrival he deployed out of the 82nd Airborne command to Iraq in support of OIF (Operation Iraqi Freedom). He returned home after 9 months and in 2008 he attended airborne school at Fort Benning, Georgia. After achieving his paratrooper status he was then stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington. In 2009 he deployed for his second time to Iraq but, spent 12 months there this time. After returning home from his second tour overseas he was then stationed back at Fort Bragg North Carolina. He remained there until 2012 when he deployed for 7 months his third and final time, this time to Afghanistan, in support of OEF (Operation Endure Freedom). After his return home he remained stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina until May of 2013 when he was sent to Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. Matthew received many medals, coins and awards for his 16 years of honorable service. Achievements he was awarded include 4 ARCOM, 4 AAM, 4 AGCM, 1 NDSM, 1 ACM-CS, 1 ICM-CS, 1 GWTSM, 1 NOPDR, 1 ASR, 2 OSR, 1 NATOMDL, 2 COA, 1 RBS, 1 CAB, 1 PRCHTBAD and 1 DRV/MECH. Matthew Married Samantha (Mellott) Wright (La Pine, OR) on April 30, 2013 in Honolulu, Hawaii. Shortly after Matthew's second son was born. Troy Wright-12 (Bend, OR) and Everett Wright-8 (La Pine, OR). Matthew's boys were the light of his life and he was proud to be their father. He was a great father, husband, service member and friend. All that knew him loved him. Matthew is survived by; his wife Samantha Wright (La Pine, OR), two sons Troy Wright (Bend, OR), Everett Wright (La Pine, OR), mother Valerie Corria (Lake Havasu City, AZ), father Robert Wright SR (La Pine, OR), two brothers Robert Wright JR ( La Pine, OR), Chazz Wright (Hayward, CA), grandmother Judith Barker (Hayward, CA), grandfather Noel Barker (Hayward, CA), grandmother Rena Eastly (La Pine, OR) and so many cousins and other family members He was processed in death by; his grandfather Troy Wright, his uncle David Wright and great-grandmother Nanny. Memorial acknowledgments and contributions include the United States Army and Niswonger-Reynolds funeral home Bend, Oregon. A service with full military honors will be held on June 5, 2022 at 1100 hrs, at the location listed above. Donations can be made to his children at Mid-Oregon credit union under Matthew Wright's name.
