Marion Lorraine Apicelli

On December 14th 2017 our beloved mother Marion Lorraine Apicelli earned her wings and peacefully left this earth in the presence of family to meet her husband and parents to spend the rest of eternity in paradise with our Lord Jesus Christ. She was 88 yrs old and she will be sorely missed by those who loved her. Marion was born in Southern California in 1929 and grew up in the warmth and sunshine of the beaches there. In her heart she was a true California girl. At a music and dance event she attended with some other girlfriends one night, she met the love of her life, Richard Albert Apicelli an Air Force pilot whom after some dating, asked her to marry him so he could take her around the world. She accepted and they began an extraordinary life together which included starting a family, raising two children and many years of travel throughout Europe and around the United States as promised, in proud service to our country. Marion was a devoted wife and mother, who loved her family, she was a great cook, and seamstress, she had a green thumb, and she loved plants and flowers. She had a great love of nature and gods creation, along with the arts and music, she passed those qualities on to her children. Her husband Richard our father had a love of history, aviation, science and sports, and passed this knowledge on to his children. Both had a strong work ethic, and insisted on achieving your best in everything attempted, this quality was also impressed on their children. After 21 years of service in the Air Force, Richard retired an "Officer" and after Marions encouragement, he pursued one of his other passions, Golf, he then became a PGA professional and became a club and teaching pro. This pursuit brought them to Central Oregon where they owned the pro shop business and managed the golf course in Redmond Oregon, eventually selling that, Richard took a position as a course/teaching pro in Sunriver, Oregon. Marion continued to support Richard in his golf career, she worked in the apparel sections of several pro shops and in the winters they traveled to Palm Springs, CA. where they both worked and became active in the "Bob Hope Desert Classic" where they met and played golf with many celebrities. Over the years they had made many friends and memories, eventually retiring in Bend Oregon. Together they shared a wonderful life. Richard passed away in 2005 in Bend and was laid to rest there. Marion continued to live in Bend and volunteered in the elementary school system helping young children with reading skills, something she really enjoyed. In 2015 she moved from Bend to be closer to her children, and eventually near her son and daughter in-law in Grass Valley CA until she passed away. She is survived by her son, Stephen L Apicelli & daughter in-law Merrilyn D. Apicelli of Grass Valley CA. Her daughter Christina M. Wester and son in-law Tyler J. Elgin of Tenino, WA. Grandchildren Nicole, Dane, and Danielle Great Grandchildren Willow and William She will be laid to rest in Bend OR with her beloved husband Richard on January 27th 2018 at Pilot Butte Cemetery.
