Linda Jane Marshall

Our beloved mother, Linda Jane Marshall, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2026, at the age of 88. She leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories and a grateful family forever shaped by her constant and unconditional love. Mom was born in St. Helens, Oregon, to Stanford and Jane Merrifield on June 25, 1937. She wed her high school sweetheart, Duane, in 1956, and they began their married life in Corvallis, Oregon, while Duane attended Oregon State College and mother worked for Whitney Ball Insurance. Upon Duane’s graduation, they moved to Newberg, Oregon, where they raised their family and made many long and lasting friendships over the next 57 years. In Newberg, she worked for Buckley’s Insurance for 36 years, but her greatest devotion was to her family. She filled our home with love, laughter, and warmth, celebrated every milestone, and made everyday moments unforgettable. Her kind and caring spirit touched friends, neighbors, and those who knew her. She loved to read and trade paperbacks with friends and never missed a weekly trip—or two—to the public library. She enjoyed tending her yard and collecting all things adorned with violets, from porcelain pieces and vintage postcards to wall art and more. Hunting for treasures and displaying her finds brought her great joy, especially in the years after she lost her beloved husband in 1988. In addition to her husband, Duane, she was preceded in death by her brother, Lawrence Merrifield, and her son-in-law, Steven Worcester. She is survived by her son, David (Kathy) Marshall, and two daughters, Lisa Worcester and Leigh (Michael) Lewis; her two cherished granddaughters, Kacey (Jordan) Potis and Olivia Lewis; and her great-grandson, Axel Potis. Mother’s final resting place will be in St. Helens, Oregon, at Yankton Hillcrest Cemetery.
