June Margaret Brown

June Brown passed away peacefully at the grand age of 90 on May 29, 2021 in Bend, Oregon. Although the family mourns her passing, we take comfort in the fact that this wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother died peacefully. June was born in 1930 on the Fourth of July, a true Yankee Doodle Dandy, in San Francisco, California. She was active in Girl Scouts and school activities including being voted Secretary of her high school class. June met Richard Brown "Dick" in 1946 at age 16 and started dating as he melted her heart. Soon after they fell in love. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1948. June went to nursing school at Children's Hospital and graduated as an RN then worked for Children's Hospital. June and "high school sweetheart" Dick married on June 27, 1952 in the Lutheran Church of San Francisco. They lived in San Francisco for two years then moved to Santa Clara and purchased their first home. They both truly enjoyed their Ping-Pong club group of friends. After eight years, they moved to Cupertino where they resided for 34 years. They raised four children in this home with June creating fabulous family memories and traditions. June was a wonderful homemaker, volunteered at schools, was a licensed realtor, sewed children's items including gonks and quilts which she sold at holiday boutiques under the name of June Bug (her nickname given to her from Dick). After Dick retired, they moved to their dream home near the beach in Aptos for nine years. In May of 2005 they moved to Bend, Oregon. June moved into the retirement community of Aspen Ridge and Dick moved into the Alzheimer's unit. June loved the ocean and the outdoors. She enjoyed camping with the family, picnics at the beach, gardening, biking, walking, crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, reading novels, and playing card games. Her favorite TV show was Lawrence Welk and her favorite meal was Mexican. June and Dick loved their vacation home at Lake Tahoe and spent many weekends and holidays surrounded by Tahoe's natural beauty. Special times at Tahoe included playing card games, working on challenging jigsaw puzzles, and relaxing with family. Dick passed away on February 2, 2007 due to complications of respiratory pneumonia. June was active at Aspen Ridge volunteering in the resident store and being a social butterfly. She created many loving friendships. Left to share memories of laughter and love are her four children; Sharyl, Jeffrey, Cynthia and Curtis; and eight grandchildren; Jim, Jessie, Bethany, Andrew, Julia, Michael, Lisa and Noah; and four great grandchildren; Kristen, Maya, Emma, Abby; and one great great grandchild; Jayce. We all miss her greatly and are thankful for every minute we were able to spend with her. She will always be remembered for her kind heart and giving spirit. A Celebration of Life will be held in the future. Remembrances may be made in June's memory to Paralyzed Veterans of America, National Alzheimer's Foundation and Boy's Town. Celebration of Life at a later date with placement at sea.
