Janet Hazel Christensen (Wiese)

Janet Hazel Christensen (Wiese), 79, of Bend, Oregon, passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2020 from a long battle with heart disease. Our hearts are tender with loss, but thankful for a life well-lived that influenced so many people along the way. We are blessed and grateful to call her wife, mom, grandma and GiGi. Janet was born in Sisters, Oregon to Julius (Dude) and Irene Wiese on January 8, 1941. She grew up in Redmond, Oregon attending John Tuck Elementary and Redmond High School. She married Kenneth Ray Christensen on June 29, 1958 in Redmond, Oregon and this year they celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary. Shortly after their wedding they moved to Tigard, Oregon where they grew their family and lived for 20 years with a brief move to Walla Walla, WA. Always the adventurer, Janet was ready to load up for a weekend camping trip or pack her suitcase to travel. She wasn't afraid to try something new, whether it was learning to ride dirt bikes or waterski, salmon fishing or creating a gourmet meal for a dinner party, she was always willing as long as it included the entire family. Janet was tenacious about her family and provided a home where every kid wanted to be. In 1978 the family moved back to Central Oregon where they lived in Bend, OR and their adventures took them to Lake Billy Chinook where they enjoyed weekends at lakeside property for over 25 years. Even after they decided to retire the lake property, "The Lake" continued to be some of Janet's favorite memories and place to be. She welcomed anyone and everyone to "The Lake", including new grandbabies and great-grandchildren. It was her beloved home away from home. Janet is proceeded in death by her father and mother and her brother William J. Wiese. She leaves behind a large family and many friends including her husband, Ken Christensen, daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and John Fiala (Denver, CO), son and daughter-in-law Jeff and Wendi Christensen (Keizer, OR) and daughter and son-in-law, Kati and Rob Hulett (Prineville, OR). Eight grandchildren; Dane Adams (Oceanside, CA), Paige Ball (Colorado Springs, CO), Brandon Fiala (ABQ, NM), Kyle Christensen (Cheyenne, WY), Kaylee Kritzmire (Cheyenne, WY), Cade Christensen (Newport Beach, CA), Selbie Christensen (Keizer, OR), Seth Hulett (Kennewick, WA ) and 10 great-grandchildren who called her GiGi. A memorial and celebration of life will be scheduled in the future. In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made in Janet Christensen's name to "Partners In Care" 2075 NE Wyatt Ct.
