Heidi Frances Hansen

Heidi Frances Hansen 12/10/1952 - 10/25/2019 It is with great sorrow, that we share with you all, that Jesus called Heidi home on the afternoon of Friday, October 25th, 2019 at St Charles Hospital in Bend. Heidi came into the world in southern California on December 10, 1952. Her parents were Stanley and Frances Hansen. Heidi was the 3rd of 4 children of Stan and Frances. She grew up with her siblings in southern California and attended Hollywood High. Heidi was a beautiful young girl and grew into a beautiful young woman. At an early age she possessed the ability to light up a room when she walked in, her laughter, her giggles, her looks, her soft voice, were so inspiring. She was that one, that special life force, who everyone wanted to be around to share in the light that she was. Heidi was very intelligent and excelled at accounting. She focused on business and accounting and it became her career as a bookkeeper/office manager. She came to Oregon in the early 70's with her family and lived in the Salem area, and soon after, met Gary Orpilla, fell in love, and married. In the early 80's she moved to the Portland area and lived in Beaverton and West Linn. In the mid 80's, shortly after her father, Stan had passed, she moved to Bend with her Mom, Frances, where there is quite a large family base including the Hansens, the Grovers, and the Wicks. After moving to Bend she met and married her second husband, Merril Hummer, and together they enjoyed their passion of the outdoors with hiking, skiing, finding trails, and walking with her dog. Heidi loved the outdoors and even up until recently she walked with her dog as often as she could, including many walks to the top of Pilot Butte, where she lived just below, She loved going to the coast and enjoyed walking the beautiful beaches that Oregon has to offer with her dog. She continued to pursue her career in accounting and retired from COIC in Bend where she made many friends and developed many strong relationships with the people she worked with. Heidi's love of family, friends, mountain hikes, sunshine, flower gardens, music, and being in the kitchen baking, using old family recipes, and trying new ones as well, will hopefully serve as examples of the joy and love of life for us all. Her passion of life, her encouraging words, her smile, her bright eyes, and her love, will be missed by all. One of Heidi's favorite sayings was from Winnie the Pooh " A grand adventure is about to begin". Heidi's grand adventure has begun! She is preceded in death by her brother Dave and survived by her Sister, Polly, her brother Steve, her nieces, Michelle and Rachelle, nephews, Dan, Glenn, Peter, and Kyle. Her long time and loyal friend, Ron, is taking care of Heidi's beloved dog and watching over her house. Heidi's love of animals was strong, and she would encourage any donations be given to your local Humane Society, especially at this time of year, when animals need it most. A service, a celebration of her life, is to be shared at the Grace First Lutheran Church 2265 Shevlin Park Rd. Bend, Or 97701 at 2 pm, Saturday, November 16th, 2019, with family and friends and we would encourage and extend an invitation to all that knew her, to attend.
