Gwen Didema Harr Anderson Our beloved Gwen spent the last 98 years as a blessing to her family and friends in this life. She left us on April 3rd, 2020 to begin her new and eternal life in Heaven. She was a devoted Christian and found comfort and peace knowing she would soon be with Jesus. Gwen was born the youngest of three children in Hutchinson, Kansas. She had a brother, Dale and a sister, Jean. Her parents Claudia Mae Tinsley and Thomas Dennis Harr moved the family to San Bernadino, California in 1939 where Gwen completed her senior year of high school. In 1940 they moved to Ventura, California where she married Bernard Nogues in 1941. They had one daughter, Valerie, in 1946 and divorced in 1957. In Ventura, Gwen worked as a bank teller at Security Pacific Bank. She established residency in Carpinteria, California in 1959 when she married Harry Anderson. Harry had two children, Barry and Terry, from his previous marriage. She was thrilled to finally have a large family and be a stay-at-home mom to them all. Harry and Gwen were married for 31 years until he passed away in 1990. Through Harry's battle with Parkinson's disease, Gwen stayed by his side and was a faithful caregiver to him. During her years in Carpinteria, Gwen volunteered as church secretary at Carpinteria Community Church. Gwen loved family gatherings, tending to her beautiful rose bushes, climbing trees, daily devotions, sewing, studying maps and learning new things. She taught "The Twist" to her teenagers and was a huge Elvis fan. Friends and family describe Gwen as; gracious, energetic, appreciative, devoted, faithful, mother, equality, planner, beautiful, strong, hospitable, thoughtful and lovable. Until we can be all be together again, she is survived by 1 son Barry Anderson of Helena, MT; 2 daughters, Valerie Dal Soglio of Bend, OR and Terry Quinn of Murrieta, CA; 1 sister Jean Daughtery of Anchorage, AK; 5 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. A private on-line memorial service for friends and family will be held by First Presbyterian Bend on Saturday, May 30th, 2020.
