Donna June Steinbring

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Donna June (Atterberry) Steinbring of Redmond, OR on Sunday, April 6, 2025. Donna was born in Chico, CA on June 27, 1935, to Violet Hoyt and Jesse Atterberry. She spent most of her adolescent years with her father who married Ada Wright in November of 1944, giving Donna two half-sisters, Linda (1945) and Lois (1946). On November 9, 1952, Donna married Clarence “Micky” Steinbring in Sacramento, CA. The couple welcomed four children, David, Gary, and twins Jan and June. Mick’s military career took the family all over the world, from Johnstown, PA, to Okinawa, Japan, Charlotte, NC, to Canada and many places in between. They moved to Oregon in 1972 and settled in Tumalo in 1973. They continued to raise their family and welcomed eight grandchildren there over the next 29 years before moving to Redmond, OR in 2001. Many family BBQ’s, holiday dinners and even a wedding or two were hosted at their Tumalo home. Donna was the happiest preparing food with love in the kitchen or snuggling up with her grandchildren on her lap in her favorite rocking chair. She spent many evenings watching out her window at the goat farm across the street, sunsets setting behind the Three Sisters and after moving to Redmond, the passer-byers on her quaint street. Donna was a lover of animals. She had cockatoos in the past, and dogs all her life. Her animals were loved and cared for by Terrebonne Veterinary Clinic. In Donna’s honor, a fund has been created to assist seniors who are unable to pay for the care their pets may need. Donna spent most of her career as an LPN at St. Charles Hospital but outside of caring for others, she enjoyed many crafts. She was known for making jewelry baskets, mastering paintings and making ceramics for family and loved ones. You could often find Donna, or her grandkids, playing in her kiln room. Later in life Donna and Mick became snowbirds. Trips to Eagle Lake and summers in Yuma, AZ, afforded Donna time to spend time with her parents as much as possible during their winter travels. Family and friends would visit from all over the USA. As the matriarch, Donna was the core of her family, her children came to her for advice, her grandchildren for wisdom, her great-grandchildren for hugs and her great-great grandchildren for her cookie jar. Donna’s love of family and God was strong and felt by everyone. She was baptized March 7, 1965. Her family takes comfort in knowing she is in the hands of God and the company of her husband, Mick. Donna’s survivors include sisters, Linda Van Der Meulen and Lois Vial; Son, David Steinbring and daughters, Jan Steinbring and June Bowles; Eight grandchildren: Mandy Avery, Audria Avery, Tera and Matthew Uerling, Donna and Luke Lassell, Sydney Steinbring-Moray and Victor Moray, Mariah and Ross Miller, Ivan Bradshaw and Nick Steinbring. Donna’s family blessed her with 14 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband: Clarence “Micky” Steinbring and son, Gary Steinbring.
