Dica Louise Goshorn

Dica Louise Goshorn, 82, went to be with the Lord on July 6, 2023, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Dica was born on April 21, 1941 to Archie and Opal Roberts in Ashland, Oregon. Her family eventually settled in Coquille, Oregon where she was raised along with her older sister, Marlene. In 1956, Dica met the love of her life, Karl Goshorn, Jr. They married the following year on August 3, 1957, in Coquille. A few years later they were blessed with a daughter, Lisa, their pride and joy, and eventually the young family settled in Bend, Oregon. Dica’s Christian faith was an essential part of who she was and also the foundation of her and Karl’s marriage and legacy. She was a gifted musician and was usually the church pianist at every church she belonged to. This was her ministry. Dica had a servants heart and it showed in her and Karl’s commitment to blessing impoverished families in Mexico with clothing, stuffed animals and other needs annually for over 25 years. She loved her family so dearly and ministered to them all with her big hugs, her caring nature and by staying in touch with cards, letters and some perfectly timed scriptures. She was the consummate hostess and welcomed all family, friends and neighbors into her home. Dica had a flare for décor and loved arranging her flowers in and outside her home. Her front porch set the tone for what awaited inside...a warm and welcoming home to be in. Besides working in the home and church, Dica spent 24 years in the Bend School District. She worked with middle school and preschool children and eventually retired. She was an aid and teacher’s aid. There is no doubt she was a positive influence in many children’s lives. Dica will be missed by so many. She left an imprint on everyone who were privileged to know her. We are thankful that she is again in the arms of her sweetheart husband Karl. She is survived by daughter Lisa (Tony) Swinney; sister Marlene (Jack) Lowe and her precious nieces, nephews and countless cousins. Dica was predeceased by husband Karl on December 15, 2021; her mother and father; nephew, Michael Lowe; and many other close family members and friends. A graveside service will be held at 11am on Friday, July 14, 2023, at Pilot Butte Cemetery in Bend, OR.
