Alysha S. Colvin

Alysha Sarai Colvin found peace after a long struggle with addiction and depression. She passed away in Bend, Oregon on December 3, 2013. Alysha was born peacefully at home into the loving arms of her parents in Sonoma, California on March 28, 1976. She moved to Menomonie in 1980 with her parents, Naomi and Jim Colvin. Alysha was delighted with the ensuing arrivals of her four brothers, Sean, Zachary, Skylar, and Micah. She attended the Family Learning Center as a pre-schooler, then Downsville Elementary, and Menomonie High School. Alysha greatly enjoyed making pottery and jewelry. She worked with John Thomas at Dunn County Pottery at The Creamery. She also worked at Lees Drug store as well as Teds Pizza before moving to Oregon. Alysha moved to Bend, Oregon in 1997 to follow her passions; snowboarding, hiking and camping. Alysha was happiest when she was outside, enjoying the beauty of nature. She loved Bachelor Mountain and the other surrounding mountains, and frequently painted mountain scenes on pottery platters and mugs. While living in Bend, she also worked at a number of restaurants and was known as an excellent gourmet cook. At the time of her death she had successfully completed a pottery class and was hoping to establish a career as a potter. Alysha will be remembered for her passion for life, and her love of art. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends, who will always carry her with them in their hearts. She is survived by: her mother, Naomi Cummings, father, James ("Jim") Colvin, brothers Sean Colvin (Cristin), Zachary Colvin (Alison Harder), Skylar Colvin (Jeni Haddad), and Micah Colvin, as well as two nieces (Leah and Hailey Colvin) and a nephew (Noah Harder), a grandmother, Dorothy Hardin, aunts Marsha Reske, Kathy Colvin and Nancy Ward, and her cousins, Gabrielle Stevens, Valerie Davidson, and Veronica Ellingson. She will be remembered by the love of her life, Patrick OToole. She will be sadly missed by many other family members, friends, and loved ones. Alysha is preceded in death by: her maternal grandfather, Shelton Hardin, her paternal grandparents, Ruth and Robert Colvin, and her sister Shanna Lori. Her remains will be scattered in the spring in some of her most beloved places; around the willow tree by the house she grew up in Downsville, the Red Cedar River, and Elk Lake in Oregon. A memorial service to celebrate her life will take place on December 14 at 2:00 at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 420 Wilson Ave., Menomonie, Wisconsin.
